MacOS Big Sur pre-release for developers is now available for Apple Developer Program members at, and a public beta will be available to Mac users later in July at The official version of macOS Big Sur will appear this fall as a free software update for Macs introduced in mid-2013 and later.
It is preliminary and not offered for mass installation.

In general, the new macOS has become not only simpler and more minimalistic, but now it is similar to iOS 14 (actually more on iPadOS 14). Apple designers redrawn all standard applications in the new operating system.
Enabling the ability to install third-party applications.

Creating a bootable flash drive. Where USB is your flash drive, in the format of Mac OS Extended (journal) size of at least 16 Gb.
